mam03_0906-283THE GRMAM

This is a study of a group I’ve come to affectionately refer to as the Grand Rapids Mexican Art Mafia. It’s a group of predominately Latino artists and musicians who work, struggle, and socialize as creatives. The study also takes a look at their extended interpersonal relationships, and the intensity that makes them lovers and artists.

Updates will occur throughout the summer on my journal. You don’t have to be Mexican to hang with the MAM.

geoff_teeTEE SHIRT CULTURE

This essay will observe the relationship of people to their tee shirts; their style choices related to graphics and the statements they make; a kids first concert tee; the tee that brings the most comfort; that tee you’ve had in your closet since the 80’s and just can’t let go, etc.

This will predominately be a portraiture series mixed with some random images. If you have a good tee shirt story and would like to be a part of this study, please email me. I’m working out details of providing prints for a fee to enable this project.

ohc_0905-295OASIS OF HOPE CENTER

OHC is a health clinic located on Leonard in Grand Rapids. They provide free health care to the uninsured in the area. I’m working on a pro bono promotional piece that will mix sounds and interviews from the clinic with images. The purpose is for both fundraising and to create awareness.
