Photographers are an annoying bunch. They saunter and sway, move sideways through crowds, crouch to get good angles, etc. It’s all very showy and dramatic. Egos are all over the spectrum. Get a bunch of digital photographers together who start talking about fast lenses and the dynamic range of sensors… talk about a snooze-fest.
Well, as much as I try to skirt the obvious, I’m still one of them.
I try to be subtle and practice all the typical rules of engagement… make friends… settle down with a crowd… bumble around with my camera… make eye contact… look for approval. Then the electricity changes in the environment, something builds up, and a moment is about to happen.
You grab it when you can.
