about me, about humanfiles

mam02_0906-59Humanfiles is the visual work of David McGowan, a creative for hire.

Let me see how well I can summarize my history. I graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design (more years ago than I care) with a degree in Graphic Design. I returned to Michigan for a few years before I set out on a nine year stay in Chicago. There I bounced around as a freelance designer for many agencies, which include a short stint in DC, before settling into a design position with Core 3 Creative back in Chicago.

Most of my time with Core 3 was spent as the lead designer for the National Geographic catalog, which has led to solid relationships with world class photographers, as well as a group of emerging peers unlike any other.

In the spring of 2007 I chose to move back to Michigan, reacquaint with my family, and pursue shooting photo essays. Michigan’s economy has made it a bittersweet move, but the photography is solid and I sense good things on the horizon. Humanfiles simply exists to document my evolution.
